If you answered yes to both of these questions, a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be the perfect choice for you. CNA programs can typically be completed in just a few weeks, and there are currently no complicated licensing requirements to be eligible for employment as a CNA in Arkansas!
The Arkansas Department of Human Services oversees the rules regarding CNA certification. According to the department, aspiring CNAs must attend at least 90 hours of training that has been approved by the state. After completing the required training, they must pass a CNA competency exam offered by Headmaster, LLP. This is a two-part test that consists of a computerized exam and a practical skills evaluation. Acceptable scores are required on both parts to obtain certification.
In the state of Arkansas, Headmaster, LLP manages both the testing of prospective CNAs and the Nurse Aide Registry. What this means is that as long as you pass both parts of the CNA competency exam, Headmaster will automatically place your name on Arkansas's Nurse Aide Registry that it manages for the state. This will allow you to apply for and obtain employment as a CNA in Arkansas.
If you, your employer or a prospective employer wants to verify your CNA certification, they can accomplish this at https://ar.tmuniverse.com/search . This page allows you to verify your certification by inputting your full name, CNA certificate ID, Social Security Number, or misconduct.
In the state of Arkansas, you will need to renew your certification every two years. To be eligible for renewal, you must have worked as a paid CNA for at least 8 consecutive hours within the past two years. To renew, you will need to sign in to your TMU© record at https://ar.tmuniverse.com and list your work hours and place of employment. The employer contact you choose from the list will receive an email verification link and when they verify, your eligibility will be extended for another two years.
If you do not work as a CNA for at least 8 consecutive hours within any two-year period, you will need to reinstate your certification. To do that, you must take and pass the CNA competency exam again.
The first thing you will need to do to transfer you CNA certification to another state is to find out whether your new state has a reciprocity agreement with Arkansas. If there is such an agreement, you should be easily able to transfer your license. In any case, contact the relevant department/authority of your new state to ask them about how to transfer your Arkansas CNA license to their state.
