This program provides a rental subsidy to low-income households through the use of a housing voucher. It is funded and regulated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Applications for Vouchers are not being accepted at this time. The Commission’s waiting list for Vouchers is currently closed. For those who are on the waiting list, the current projected waiting period for a Voucher is approximately 8-10 years.
The Howard County Housing Commission is currently in the process of updating its Administrative Plan, which provides the policies and procedures for operating the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP). At the same time, the Commission is also updating its Five-Year Plan, which provides the goals and objectives of the HCVP program, and its Annual Plan, which gives an update to the Five-Year Plan.
