Physical properties and physiology of bone

Bone is a living organism composed of mineral substances and tissues. The latter consist of cells, fat substances, natural polymers (like polysaccharides, collagen, polyphosphates) and other substances. Although the properties of bone vary from point to point and the proportion of the diverse substances varies according to the different parts of the skeleton, bone tissue contains about two-thirds inorganic and one-third organic substances on average.
